Message from the Search Chair

Thank you for your interest in our Social Sciences Librarian position in the Research & Instructional Services (RIS) Dept. at the Sherrod Library at East Tennessee State University. We are looking for someone who can fill out our RIS team with their knowledge of the Social Sciences disciplines. We’d like to give you as much information as we can to help you during the application process.

Sherrod is a mid-sized academic library serving just under 15,000 students and about 2,400 faculty and staff members, including distance learners and remote sites. As a state institution, we also serve members of the general public. Our RIS faculty may consult with users in person, by phone, by chat, or using video conferencing software such as Zoom.

RIS faculty members also serve as liaisons to academic departments. This involves establishing and maintaining contact with faculty in assigned departments, assisting with collection development, and providing library instruction.

Faculty members are also involved in planning for Sherrod Library, and may serve on University and/or Library committees.
