Call for Submissions!

In honor of National Poetry Month the Sherrod Library is hosting a poetry contest for our April-May gallery display with the theme "Memory"

We want to see your poems related to memory!

This contest is open to all ETSU students and is free to enter. A $100 prize will be awarded to the student with the best poem as judged by a panel comprised of faculty and staff. Additionally, second and third place will be awarded $50 and $25, respectively.

The winning poems, along with a selection of finalists and honorable mentions will be framed and displayed on the walls of the library’s 3rd Floor Gallery Space throughout the month of April. The winner, along with finalists, and honorable mentions, will be formally announced at an opening reception on Monday, April 1 at 6:00pm in the 3rd Floor Gallery at Sherrod. Finalists will be alerted and asked to read their poems at the reception by March 24.

To enter, please submit one poem only as an email attachment to: sherrodgalleries@etsu.edu

Please include your name, email, and a phone number where you can be reached.

Submissions will be judged blind by a panel of librarians and library staff members. All identifying information will be removed from your submission before being presented to our panel of judges.

The deadline to enter is February 13, 2025.

If you have any questions, please email Lydia Gywn (gwynlc@etsu.edu) or Sarah Bull (bulls@etsu.edu).
