Sherrod Library is committed to providing all patrons with an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment. The library strives to provide equitable access to library collections, resources, and services, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.
ZoomText and JAWS are installed on the PCs in the Special Services Lab. ZoomText magnifies the screen and provides control of options such as color, pointer, cursor and focus. Job Access with Speech (JAWS) provides text-to-speech and Braille output for most applications on the lab PCs.
Some lab computers are equipped with Low Vision Keyboards that have keys 30% larger than those on a standard keyboard.
The Magnisight Monitor is for visually impaired readers and has a number of special features to enlarge text, images, and other objects.
An NTouch Video Phone is available in Room 330. If this room is occupied or otherwise unavailable, another video phone is available from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday in Disability Services, located in Room 300 on the 3rd floor of the Nell Dossett Residence Hall.
The KIC scanners are located on the 1st floor and on the 3rd floor in Room 305. The KIC Scanner allows users to scan books and other documents available in the library. Scanned files maybe saved to a USB drive or emailed. The KIC scanner has the option to change outputs for Text-to-Speech, searchable PDF documents, and enhanced screen viewing. For additional assistance, public service desks are located near each KIC Scanner and on-screen tutorials are available.
