Scan Documents

Knowledge Imaging Center (KIC) self-service document scanners are located on

  • 2nd floor, next to the copier/printer in the computer lab section.
  • 3rd floor, in Documents, Law, and Maps Room 305. 

You need:

  • ETSU username and password to log in and
  • USB flash drive to save your files.



You can

  • scan books and magazines face-up, both color and black-and-white. The system scans both pages and automatically splits them into separate images.
  • scan large documents like newspapers and maps. The scan area is 17 x 24 inches.
  • save files as images (TIFF, PNG, JPG), documents (Word, PDF), or text-to-speech audio (MP3).
  • save to Dropbox or Google Docs if you have an account with them.

Change your Google account settings to save files to Google Docs before you try it from the scanner:

  1. Login to your Google account.
  2. Go to Sign-in & Security > Connected apps & sites and change Allow less secure apps from OFF to ON.
  3. When you're finished using the KIC scanner, login to your Google account and turn Allow less secure apps back to OFF.
  4. If you are logged in to your Google account you can turn this setting on and off easily by visiting
