Ithaka S+R Local Faculty Survey

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who can take the survey?

All full-time faculty in all colleges and schools will be invited to take the survey, including faculty with Instructor, Lecturer, Clinical, or Research appointments. Faculty in the ETSU Libraries will be excluded.

When can I take the survey?

You can take the survey anytime between Monday, February 11 to Friday, March 22.

How do I take the survey?

On Monday, February 11,  a unique survey link will be sent to all full-time faculty from David P. Atkins, Dean of University Libraries with the research@surveys.libraries.etsu.edu email address and the subject header "Participation in ETSU’s Ithaka S+R Local Faculty Survey." If you do not receive a link and you are a full-time faculty member, please email libsurveys@etsu.edu

Can I stop and later continue the survey from the same point?

Yes. You will be able to save their responses and continue at a later time by clicking on your individualized link, even if you close your browser, use a different browser, or use a different device.

Can I back up and change my responses?

No. Because the survey may branch based on your responses, allowing you to back up and change your responses may cause undesired behavior in the survey software. Thus, there will not be a back button located in the online questionnaire.

How long is the survey?

Estimated time for completion is 20-25 minutes. The length of time to complete the survey will vary depending on how you answer certain questions.

In other words, there are certain skip patterns built into the survey that will activate depending on individual responses to specific questions. The skip patterns may decrease the time it takes to complete the survey for some respondents.

Has the survey been approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB)?

Yes. An exempt approval was granted by the IRB on December 4, 2018.

How will my identity be protected?

Though the survey is anonymous and will not ask you to reveal your identity, there is minimal risk that you as a participant may be identifiable because of the small number of faculty in certain departments and the demographic data asked at the end of the survey. Confidentiality and anonymity will be strongly protected and your answers to the questions will be aggregated with the answers of other participants. Only aggregate results will be shared.

Is the survey compatible with mobile devices?

Yes, the look and feel is responsive to device type. The survey platform is able to detect your device and automatically adjust the questionnaire into an appropriate format.

Is the survey accessible to respondents using screen readers or other Accessibility Technology (such as JAWS)?

Yes. The survey questions in the platform have been tested for compliance with the accessibility standards contained in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and are compatible with screen readers and similar software.

When will the survey's results be released?

Survey results are anticipated to be released Fall 2019. Check back on this page to view the results.
