ETSU Information Regarding the APA 7th Edition

  • School of Graduate Studies:  "Theses/dissertations that are written in APA format will be edited according to the new APA manual, 7th edition, beginning June 1, 2020.  Edits made according to the new APA manual, 7th edition, will be required beginning Aug. 1, 2020. For details or if you have any questions concerning this grace period, please contact Emily Redd or 439-4898."
  • CFAA Learning/Tutoring Services: "Students will be able to receive help from writing tutors with APA 7th edition beginning spring 2020.  Students should request clarification from their instructors about which edition of APA style will be required for course assignments during this transition.  For questions about writing tutoring or to get help with scheduling an appointment, please contact the CFAA at 439-7111 or"

Temporary Electronic Access to APA Titles

RedShelf is working with APA to provide over 160 APA book titles and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th & 7th). These ebooks will be offered free of charge through RedShelf until May 25, 2020.

To get started:

  1. Sign up for a RedShelf Account. Be sure to use your ETSU email address.
  2. Indicate East Tennessee State University as the school on the signup page.
  3. You will need to verify your email address.
  4. Once logged into RedShelf, search for "American Psychological Association" to view APA eBooks, or use the links below:
  5. Add the titles by clicking the Add to My Shelf button.
  6. RedShelf is mobile friendly and can be accessed via the web on most devices.
  7. Access will be available until May 25th, 2020.
