How to Find Primary and Non-Database Resources

A guide for finding physical collections to use in your research.

What do we mean by "non-database resources?"

We mean books and other media which are not directly accessed through one of our databases. Sherrod Library has a number of collections in physical and digital format. Below you'll learn how to find them.

To find non-database collections and physical formats at Sherrod Library, you'll need to start at the Libraries Homepage, below you'll see the OneSearch bar.

Type in your keywords. The catalog will tell you how to access the item (print or online, if it's held by Sherrod, and if it's available).

The book highlighted below is a print book located on the 4th floor.

You can also go to the Advanced Search (seen above at the right of the search bar) and filter for a specific collection (like Government Documents).

The Research Tab on the library's homepage has information on our collections, you can also find a link to the left under Workshops, Other Guides, and Tips.
