Innovation Commons - Spaces and Technologies

What is Sewing?

Sewing allows you to join, fasten, or repair (something) by making stitches with a needle and thread or a sewing machine. The Janome HD-3000 at Innovation Commons is perfect for a beginner or sewist looking to do a wide range of sewing.

How can I use the Sewing Machine in the Makerspace?

  • For safety purposes, use of the sewing machine requires an orientation by one of our Innovation Commons staff.
  • No previous experience? We recommend you attend one of our sewing workshops offered throughout the semester.
  • Advance reservation is encouraged. Walk-ins are accepted pending staff and equipment availability.
  • You are welcome to bring your own materials but must be approved by Innovation Commons staff.
