Public health research explores the influence of a variety of factors, whether biological, behavioral, social or environmental, that determine population health. Research in this area includes interventions aiming to improve population health and prevent disease, as well as innovations in the organization of health services. Public health researchers also use a variety of observational methods, including cross-sectional studies, cohort studies and case-control studies. Systematic review and meta-analysis methods are used to combine data from multiple studies and determine which interventions work best.
