The New Graduate Student's Survival Guide

This guide contains a selection of resources for graduate students new to the ETSU area

Shopping

There are places to eat on campus, restaurants directly adjacent to campus, and many restaurants which deliver in Johnson City.

There are two grocery stores adjacent to campus: Kroger and Earth Fare. Kroger will deliver groceries for an additional fee, and Earth Fare offers a student discount on certain days. Kroger is for both groceries and pharmacy and Earth Fare is for groceries.

One-stop shopping for essential clothing, housing supplies, and furniture can be purchased at Walmart and Target.

Walmart has two stores in Johnson City for groceries, clothing, household items, haircuts, eyeglasses, and a pharmacy.

Target has one store in Johnson City for groceries, clothing, and household Items.

Second-hand stores such as Goodwill and the Salvation Army also resell items such as clothing, housewares and furniture.

Haircuts can be obtained on campus at the Culp (student) Center. More information on location and time can be obtained from the student information station at the Culp Center.

International Grocery Stores

Located within walking distance of ETSU at 701 W Market St #5, Kimchi Market is a Korean grocery store. 

Kimchi Market

Spice World International Market is an Indian grocery store which carries Middle Eastern, Asian, and Indian products and spices.  Located at 3101 Browns Mill Rd., it is adjacent to the Browns Mill Walmart.
